What was the MTSs and how was it used?

What was the MTSs kit?

The MTSs (Mash Temp Stabilization system) was a temperature control system for mashing. This was comprised of the single output FTSs controller and a 60-watt heating pad.

What was the MTSs used for?

The MTSs was used to gently heat the InfuSsion Mash Tun for extended periods of time. The MTSs was primarily a kettle souring kit that could also be used to help maintain mash temps in less ideal (colder) environments.

Could the MTSs replace a RIMS or HERMS setup?

No. The MTSs did not have anywhere near the power to heat a recirculated mash. This means no mashing out, no step mashing, and no decoction was possible. This was designed to aid single infusion mashing.

The MTSs utilized a 60-watt heating pad while typical RIMS or HERMS elements are between 2500 watts and 5500 watts. The MTSs was not designed for recirculation.

How can I buy an MTSs for my new InfuSsion Mash Tun?

If you are looking to mash in colder weather or kettle sour in your InfuSsion Mash Tun, you can always build one from our FTSs Touch systems! It won't heat your strike water, but by applying an FTSs Touch | Heating Pad (Brew Bucket) to the base of the InfuSsion Mash Tun, you can help stabilize your mash. Just keep in mind that you will still need to preheat the vessel and use the correct temperature strike water for the best results.

Where can I find the manual for my existing MTSs?
