Are the 1/2" ball valves for the kettle and mash tun the same?

Unfortunately, they are not.

Please don't get them mixed up in your brewery operations.

The kettle valve has a recess/groove on it to accommodate a sealing O-ring.  The mash tun valve does not have this recess/groove.
